A LITTLE ABOUT YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is a quiet meditative yoga practice that moves beyond the muscular body, targeting the connective tissue by way of long gentle holds. The entire class is performed from either a seated or prone position, with a minimal amount of physical exertion.

Yin Yoga is a wonderful complement to other fiery Yang Yoga practices like Bikram, Vinyasa Flow or Power Yoga. This practice aims to release the physical and emotional tensions that accumulate due to the stress of work and personal lives.

Some of the benefits of Yin yoga are:

  • Calming and balancing to the mind and body

  • Increases mobility in the body, especially the joints and hips

  • Lowering of stress levels

  • Greater stamina

  • Release of fascia throughout the body

  • Deeper Relaxation

  • A great coping mechanism for anxiety and stress

  • Better ability to sit for meditation

Meet your teacher

Mary Capozzo

Mary began yoga over 20 years ago as a means to quiet her anxious mind and to help heal long standing sciatica pain.  Throughout the years she practiced on and off and dabbled in several different types of yoga.  But it was the discovery of Yin in 2012 that became life changing for her.  She found a wonderful connection of the mind, body and breath that helped to calm her busy mind, and gave her both mental and physical balance that she felt inspired to share this beautiful practice with others.  Mary's teaching style is yin-spired.  In her classes she aims to guide each student into that place of peace and calm by linking breath with the body in stillness. She encourages her students to find their own style in a non-judgmental nurturing way as a tool to expand their consciousness and to bring more awareness into the body.

Mary is a 200 hour RYT with the Yoga Alliance and is forever a student attending various workshops and training programs.  When Mary is not doing yoga you can find her at Rain Wellness Spa sharing her passion for skincare as an Esthetican.

We're taking Wellness to relaxing new levels.
